Mindful Work Days at Blue Cliff Monastery

Dear Friends,

As we prepare for our Tour Retreat, Awakening Together, Healing the Ancestral Heart, we we see a number of projects that we would love to help manifest.

WHEN? The Monastics of Blue Cliff Monastery invite you to lend a helping hand on 2 Saturdays in July: July 15 and July 29 and 2 weeks in August: August 1-14.  There will be a light practice schedule and two work sessions each day.

WHAT? We will be cleaning and organizing our storage areas.  We will put together tents, bunk beds, repaint decks, fences and bridges around the pond, cut grass, clear the forest among other things.  There will be a group of monastics and long term friends leading the way and working with you.

Your skills in carpentry, electricity and plumbing are greatly appreciated. Please let us know if you have these skills so that we can organize the work better.

SCHEDULE? This is our schedule for the community work days:

9:00 am:  Gather at the Sisters Dining Hall, Snack break, end morning session at noon
12:30 pm: Lunch
3:00 pm to 5:00 pm: continue our working meditation
6:00 pm: Lazy dinner

From the period from August 1 to August 14 please notice that there will be no Days of Mindfulness. The work schedule remains the same for these first 2 weeks in August. On Thursdays and Sundays there will be 1 work session in the morning so that we can rest in the afternoon. Monday the 7 th and 14 th of August will remain lazy days.

REGISTRATION? If you are planning to come for the whole day, or just part of the day, please email office@bluecliffmonastery.org and let us know the dates and times you will be here.  You can also call 845-213-1782 .  This will help us better prepare for food.

If you are planning to stay overnight, for those who need to travel a distance to join us, please register below.

There is no charge, however, donations are welcome. The form will request billing information.  Please fill this part out. You will not be charged anything. You will not be billed. Having your email address, address and phone number will be helpful to us.

If you are planning to come, please bring gloves, goggles, pliers, hammers, shovels, screwdrivers, and chainsaws if you have them. And it would be lovely if you bring a hammock with you so that you can have some relaxing moments resting in your hammock under trees by the creek in the forest during your nap time.  Don't forget your hat and tick repellent and sun block in your personal items.

We hope that these work days will be our joyful days, offering our energy in making this place a refuge for the practice of healing and transformation.

In gratitude,

The Monastic Community of Blue Cliff Monastery.
