	Tu viện Bích Nham là một trung tâm thực tập pháp môn Chánh Niệm theo truyền thống Làng Mai với sự hiện diện của 30 tăng ni thường trú. Tu viện tọa lạc tại vùng rừng núi thung lũng Hudson, về hướng tây bắc cách thành phố New York khoảng 75 dặm. Không gian yên tĩnh với suối mát rừng xanh sẽ đem đến sự thư giãn cho thân tâm quí vị. 	While the practice of law can be rewarding, professionally and personally, and a source of inspiration and justice, it may also be a source of great stress. More than ever, lawyers face business development demands, are driven by time demands with escalating billable hours, are future-oriented, focused on goal setting, and are trained to be highly judgmental, thinking our way out of a problem to a solution. This weekend retreat, designed for lawyers, judges, law professionals and law students, is an opportunity to slow down, to experience and enjoy the deep connection that comes with awareness of the present moment. The retreat will include periods of silence, dharma talks by Lawyer Dharma Teachers, discussions, and an opportunity to present questions to help participants learn ways to integrate mindfulness into life, family, and work. We will engage in nourishing practices - sitting, walking, and eating meditation, deep relaxation; and mindful dialogue - to cultivate the non-judgmental mind and nourish our hearts.&nbsp;</p>

	<strong>Dharma Teacher Jack Lawlor</strong></div>
<div>
	Practicing law in Chicago since 1976, he has worked for the Environmental Protection Agency, Cook County States Attorneys' office, and an international law firm. Jack began meditating in the mid-1970s as a student of Roshi Philip Kapleau. He was ordained by Thich Nhat Hanh as a Dharma Teacher in 1992 and assembled Friends on the Path, a book about community-based meditation practice. Jack has been married for 37 years, and has two children and three grandchildren. His spiritual community, Lakeside Buddha Sangha, just celebrated its 20th anniversary.</div>

	<strong>Dharma Teacher Leslie Rawls</strong></div>
<div>
	Leslie has practiced law in North Carolina since 1983. A former civil and criminal trial attorney, she has focused solely on appeals since 1995 and is a board-certified specialist in Appellate Practice. She began studying Buddhism in the 1970s, but her practice did not come alive until she met Thich Nhat Hanh in the early 1990s. She was ordained into the Order of Interbeing in 1995 and received Lamp Transmission as a Dharma Teacher in 2009.&nbsp;</div>

	<strong>Dharma Teacher Jeanne Anselmo&nbsp;</strong></div>
<div>
	Ordained in 1995 in the Order of Interbeing and as a Dharma teacher by Thich Nhat Hanh in 2011. A Senior Fellow in Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback and Certified Holistic Nurse, Jeanne is a founding member of the Green Island Sangha, and in 2001, co-founded the Contemplative Urban Law Program at the City University of New York School of Law, where she currently co-teaches a one credit contemplative law course: LAW: Love in Action with Wisdom.&nbsp;</div>

	Valerie is a lawyer, registered independent lobbyist, mediator, and certified executive coach. She has studied with Thich Nhat Hanh since 1995 and was ordained in the Order of Interbeing in 2003. She studied mindfulness-based stress reduction at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Healthcare and Society; is a founding member of Old Path Sangha in New Hope, PA; and has helped organize People of Color Retreats throughout the US. Her essay on relationships was featured in Together We Are One: Honoring Our Diversity, Celebrating Our Connection&nbsp;</div>

	Life can be so stressful. We invite you to join us this summer to water our seeds of joy and happiness together and wash away our worries. In this retreat, we will learn how to truly stop, look, and listen to our body and mind. We will use the practices of mindfulness to touch the miracles of life in the midst of the mundane. The retreat includes daily teachings on mindfulness and sessions of walking meditation and sitting meditation. We will also have the chance to strengthen our capacities for deep listening and loving speech through the practices of Deep Relaxation, Touchings of the Earth, Beginning Anew, and Dharma sharing. &nbsp;</p>
<p>
	There will also be opportunities to share mindfully and joyfully in the daily tasks of maintaining the monastery through the practice of working meditation. Everyone will work together in small groups―washing &nbsp;pots, gardening, cleaning the meditation hall, and so on.</p>
<p>
	The retreat is open to all, including beginners, those who have previously attended retreats, and families with children. The first part of the Dharma talks is normally dedicated to children. &nbsp;The nuns and monks will offer separate practice programs for teens (ages 13-17) and children (ages 6-12). &nbsp;Parents are welcome to participate/volunteer to help out in the children’s program if they would like.</p>

	We invite you to join us for our English speaking retreat here at the beautiful Blue Cliff Monastery, a branch monastery of Plum Village. Blue Cliff located only 90 miles northwest of New York City in the lush Walker Valley close to the Catskills. While practicing together over these 5 days, we shall learn how to come back to ourselves and to discover that enlightened living is possible with the practice of mindfulness in everyday life. We will learn to practice walking and sitting meditation, touching the earth, Dharma discussion and beginning anew. 	Winter Retreat is a time in the life of both the monastic and lay communities when we simplify things, committing ourselves to stay within the boundaries of the monastery, and focus deeply on cultivating the practice of mindfulness.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; font-variant: normal; line-height: 1.5; ">
	The Winter Retreat is the equivalent to the 3-month varśa (rainy season) retreat held in monasteries of various Buddhist traditions. It dates back to the time of the Buddha when the monks and nuns were traveling and teaching the Dharma throughout various regions of India during the year. During the rainy season, when traveling became difficult, they collected together as a community to learn and practice the Dharma, and to share their way of life and experience in the practice.</p>
<p style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; font-variant: normal; line-height: 1.5; ">
	Today, the monastic members still continue this tradition of gathering together to practice for 3 months every year. We are happy to receive lay friends who wish to attend this special retreat and share their practice and way of life with us during this period. We recommend a minimum stay of one week. If you would like to follow the courses offered during the retreat and deepen your practice you can apply to stay for the whole retreat (3 months). Just as in the time of the Buddha certain boundaries will be observed during this retreat, for us the grounds of Blue Cliff Monastery. We would like to ask your support in sharing this practice with us even if you only stay a short period of time or if you have your own car. Specifically, that means we should refrain from going into town or taking outings without asking the permission of our retreat mentor and of the community.</p>
