Weekly Meditation and Mindfulness Practices:
Thursday evenings 7:00 - 8:30pm and Tuesday mornings 8:00 - 8:40am

Dear Sangha Brothers and Sisters;

It is with great delight to announce several new and fun events planned for Thursday night Sangha!

Thurs, Sept 9th - This evening we will be reading and sharing from Thay's book, Happiness. Deepen your understanding of the mindfulness bell, the practice of bowing, and walking meditation. We'll also be facilitating a special fire ceremony to transform the prayers collected in the prayer bowl this past year.

Thurs, Sept 16th ~~Pebble Meditation, especially for Children! This is a beautiful mindfulness practice that the children and adults practice at Plum Village retreats. Bring your child (and your inner child) to Sangha!  Below are online resources if you'd like to know more, or just come that evening and enjoy relaxing into the support:

Thurs, Sept 23 ~~Wedding Ceremony  For the first time, we will be reciting and facilitating a commitment ceremony from the Plum Village/Thay's Chant book. Come together to support the loving commitment made known by Bryan and Kristin Doe, as they renew their vows in celebration of their 15th wedding anniversary. Other couples are welcome to participate as well!

Wed, Sept 29th ~~Our service luncheon opportunity. Every 5th Wednesday of the month we volunteer to make and serve lunch to Women-at-Risk, near downtown Asheville. Contact Susan Hales if you would like to participate. 828-255-8064 or yayahales@gmail.com

Thurs, Sept 30th ~~We will be reciting The 14 Mindfulness Trainings, with the spirit of our 5th Thursday as Creative Night.

Thurs, Oct 7th ~~Each first Thursday of the month is Silent Night; an evening of a guided meditation, walking meditation, and silent sitting meditation.

Sangha Social and Art Show! Sunday, November 7, 4-7 pm.

Join your Sangha for a social gathering and art celebration!  Mountain Mindfulness will be hosting a Sangha social and art show, featuring MMS sister Kimberly Childs' fiber art and watercolors. The gathering is at Gallery Osage, 47C Orange Street, one block north of downtown off of Merrimon Ave.  This event is open to everyone; you are welcome to bring a friend! Refreshments will be served. More details to come in future announcements.

Other news: MMS sister Anna Matheson has a room for rent in her large house in Arden-  She's looking for a housemate who has a mindfulness practice. House includes a private bath, fenced yard (her dog would love more dog company!), huge old trees, fireplace, cathedral ceiling...contact Anna 828:684-7359 (h) or 828:691-8545 (c) or simply respond to this email.

"When the energy of love is strong in us, we can send it to beings in all directions. But we must not think that love meditation is only an act of imagination-we imagine our love as being like waves of sound or light, or like a pure, white cloud that forms slowly and gradually spreads out to envelop the whole world. A true cloud produces rain. Sound and light penetrate everywhere, and our love must do the same. We have to observe whether our mind of love is present in our actual contact with others. Practicing love meditation in the sitting position is only the beginning." from Teachings on Love, by Thich Nhat Hanh
